Alexsandro Geremia, CEO of HIGRA, Joins the Baker Hughes Annual Meeting 2025

HIGRA, a leader in technology for pumps and turbogenerators in Brazil, continues to expand its reach through strong relationships and strategic initiatives. From February 2–4, we’ll be in Florence, Italy, at the Baker Hughes Annual Meeting, our business partner in Europe.
This year, Alexsandro Geremia, HIGRA’s CEO and one of the company’s founders, will present our Amphibious Pump to the event attendees. “Being invited to an event of this scale is an unparalleled opportunity to showcase our proprietary technology for amphibious pumps and turbogenerators in a licensing model. It places HIGRA on a new level of global significance,” says Geremia.
This moment represents a significant step in the introduction of HIGRA’s products to Europe, broadening our company’s reach and bringing productivity, energy efficiency, and sustainability to different countries. “This is our legacy reaching the world,” adds Geremia.
Baker Hughes Annual Meeting 2025
The Baker Hughes Meeting is a global forum that brings together innovation leaders from the energy and industrial sectors. The theme for this year, “Scaling Progress,” highlights the necessity of sustainable energy development to drive lasting change.
The topic resonates deeply with HIGRA’s mission to improve the world through the energy efficiency and sustainability that our technology delivers. After all, the future doesn’t belong to us, but making it better is part of our responsibility today.
In addition to HIGRA and Baker Hughes’ European CEOs, the event will host other partners and leaders from the company’s global units, creating a vibrant environment for qualified networking and exploring new business opportunities and innovative technologies.
This marks HIGRA’s second time participating in this prestigious international event. Last year, we presented our amphibious pump technology through INTERCON, our international business partner. On that occasion, Gilson Cruz represented HIGRA, showcasing our products and providing technical insights to attendees.
HIGRA and Baker Hughes: A Partnership for the Future
As the licensed promoter and distributor of HIGRA technology in Europe, Baker Hughes is globally recognized for its leadership in delivering high-productivity, energy-efficient solutions and clean energy generation.
With over a century of experience, Baker Hughes stands out in markets such as oil and gas, renewable energy, and industrial infrastructure, investing in advanced technologies for cleaner, more sustainable practices.
This partnership underscores the high quality and advanced technology of HIGRA’s products. It also highlights the strength of the HIGRA brand and its contribution to a more sustainable present, offering equipment that maximizes results while reducing environmental impact.
Products Tailored for the European Market
Beyond opening doors to new business opportunities, our partnership with Baker Hughes provides an excellent chance to enhance the technical aspects of our products. Close collaboration with their engineering team helps us align with European Technical Standards (ETS) regarding sustainability and technical requirements for electrical equipment. Adapting to these guidelines is essential for marketing our products across the European Union.
Currently, HIGRA exports around 10% of its production, mainly to Latin American countries. With this partnership, we aim to significantly increase our export share in the coming years. “The partnership with Baker Hughes gives us the confidence and reliability to enter a market as critical as Europe,” says Geremia. “We are confident we’re delivering a trustworthy product that meets all technical and regulatory requirements.”
HIGRA Urban Drainage Systems
HIGRA Amphibious Pumps play a vital role in the efficiency of urban drainage systems, ensuring cities remain safe and operational. During heavy rains, they prevent flooding, infrastructure damage, and traffic disruptions by quickly draining water from streets.
With the ability to operate underwater, combined with versatility and easy installation, these pumps ensure swift deployment in various city areas.
One remarkable instance where our technology made a life-saving difference was during the Southern Brazilian devastating floods, in May 2024.
In response to this public emergency, HIGRA deployed 13 amphibious pumps to drain water from flooded streets and homes across several cities. Thanks to their robustness and high flow capacity, our products removed over 20 billion liters of water — the equivalent of 6,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools — allowing residents to return home and begin rebuilding their lives.
The Challenges of Urban Drainage
In such scenarios, one of the biggest challenges is handling large volumes of water mixed with high concentrations of debris. Solids like trash, mud, and rubble can clog and damage drainage systems.
Thanks to their unique design, HIGRA Amphibious Pumps feature protective grates with wider spacing, reducing the risk of blockages from smaller solids. Additionally, their wet motor technology enables operation both underwater and on dry surfaces, offering unmatched versatility for various environments and applications.
