Submerged Propulsion Aerator (ASP)
Also known as a Fountain Propeller, the ASP HIGRA is a versatile solution for applications requiring simultaneous aeration and movement. Its vertical rotor generates a jet of water with strong propulsion, providing effective mixing and oxygen transfer with a visual effect similar to a fountain. Suitable for WWTPs as well as ornamental ponds, parks and zoos.
Technical differentials
- Floating installation, without civil works
- Long-range propulsion jet for oxygenating and moving sludge
- Low energy consumption with high O₂ transfer rate
- Easy installation and repositioning
Typical applications
- Aerated lagoons and equalization tanks
- Reduction of effluent temperature by dispersion
- Lakes in parks, squares and zoos
- Tanks with dead zones or need to suspend solids
Complete performance tables, influence curves and detailed technical data are available in the catalog.

THS Submerged Mixer
The THS line is HIGRA's submerged mixing solution, designed for robust homogenization in tanks and ponds. With an axial rotor and high thrust diffuser, it creates a directed jet that recirculates the useful volume, promoting macro and micromixing with low energy consumption. In inclined arrangements, the jet describes a downward trajectory, sweeping the bottom and preventing sedimentation. Compatible with frequency inverters and with or without oxygen injection.
Installation Variations
- Attaches to the chassis at the bottom of the tank
- Floating via inclined buoy structure
- Customized structures according to tank or process
- Compatible with frequency inverters
Typical applications
- Complete mixing tanks
- Industrial ponds with sludge accumulation
- Anoxic reactors and denitrification
Complete performance tables, influence curves and detailed technical data are available in the catalog.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about aerators for wastewater treatment
The submerged aerator (such as Tornado and ASP) operates below the water table, sucking in atmospheric air and incorporating oxygen directly into the effluent, with greater efficiency at depth. The surface aerator (such as the Cyclone) combines surface operation with submerged technology, making it ideal for shallow lagoons and stations near residential areas due to its low noise level.
HIGRA aerators use 100% oil-free wet motor technology, i.e. no oil or grease in the system. This eliminates the risk of leaks and contamination of the effluent, reduces maintenance interventions and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. The monoblock construction integrates the engine and hydraulic unit in the same block, minimizing vibrations and points of failure.
The Cyclone Surface Aerator is the recommended choice for shallow facultative lagoons. It operates at low water levels, has a floating flow director with height adjustment and emits a low noise level, making it suitable for stations near residential areas. Available from 1.5 to 7.5 HP with a diameter of up to 38 m.
HIGRA carries out a complete application engineering process: study of tank load and geometry, CFD (hydrodynamic) simulations, definition of layout and number of pieces of equipment, and comparative studies of OTR (Oxygen Transfer Rate) and SAE (Standard Aeration Efficiency). The result is a system designed for maximum efficiency with lower energy consumption.
The Tornado Biturbo 80 CV line reaches a mixing capacity of 12,000 m³/h in the Biturbo-R (rotary) version. The conventional Tornado line reaches up to 6,000 m³/h in the 40 CV model. The THS-20 Mixer offers 1,800 m³/h of flow with an influent of 1,000 m³, and the ASP Propulsor-40 achieves 2,500 m³/h of flow with an influent diameter of 55 m.
