How about buying a piece of equipment that is so rarely serviced that you forget it exists? That’s more or less what happened with Fischer, Brazil’s largest juice producer, which in 2004 chose to work with an Amphibious Pump. Aimed at pumping water from a river, the pump was installed on a concrete base on the edge of a riparian forest at Fazenda Barreiro Grande, in the town of Colômbia, São Paulo. Due to its amphibious concept, at certain times of the year it operates immersed due to flooding and at other times on a dry basis, sucking water from the river. But, in line with all HIGRA products – which emit little noise and require little maintenance – the pump is currently “missing” because it has been covered by the forest and has never suffered a breakdown. And that’s why the equipment is affectionately known as the “Pump that disappeared”.
